Labels
Labels are tags on issues: “Bug”, “Feature”, “Frontend”, “Waiting for reply”. An issue can have any number of them, and you can filter any list by them.
Set labels
Section titled “Set labels”Press L (Labels …) on an issue or a selection. The picker stays open so you can toggle several labels in a row; each one shows as checked when all selected issues have it. Labels are listed by group, with the labels outside any group at the end.
To create a new label on the spot, type its name in the picker and choose Create label “…”. The new label is set on the issues right away.
Workspace labels and team labels
Section titled “Workspace labels and team labels”Most labels are workspace labels: they work in every team. Labels you create in XLR8, in the picker or in the settings, are always workspace labels.
A label can also belong to a single team, for example after an import from Linear. Such a team label can only be set on issues of that team, so the picker only offers it when all selected issues belong to that team. When an issue moves to another team, labels of the old team are removed; workspace labels stay.
Label groups
Section titled “Label groups”A group bundles related labels, such as “Type” or “Area”. In the picker, every group is its own section.
A group can be Single choice: an issue can then have at most one label from it. That fits groups like “Type” (an issue is a bug or a feature, not both). Single-choice groups are marked “· one” in the picker. Groups without it allow any combination.
Manage labels
Section titled “Manage labels”Open Settings → Labels. There you can:
- create a group under New group, with or without Single choice, and rename it or change its color,
- add a label to a group with + Label, or to No group,
- rename a label, change its color, or move it to another group with the drop-down,
- see how many issues use each label,
- Archive a label you no longer need.
An archived label stays on the issues that already have it, but can no longer be assigned. Turn on Show archived to see archived labels and Unarchive one.
Every label and group has a color: click its dot to pick one of twelve hues. A new label created from the picker gets a color automatically.
